He sat across from me on the train. I asked him what he was making. “A hat, he said. “With fine silk.” I moved to the seat next to him asked him to write a poem. He teaches Tai Chi and crocheting. He’s a Vietnam Vet – a demolition expert – who crochets “as therapy.” “It teaches you to review the day before, and the coming day, get your character together, makes me strong. I think, analyze and correct whatever mistakes I made.”
