I'm a boy in ballet--__

Wilbur Cross High School, January 21st 2014
Not the subway, but inspired by it. Ms Sandy Carlson, a teacher at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, used the Today.com article on Poems by New Yorkers to inspire a poetry project. She called it “Who’s a Poet?” and asked her students to comment on the potential positive and negative outcomes of my interaction with strangers. They also had to write an impromptu poem or ask someone else to do so. The results were published online here. I enjoyed them all. I was especially taken by Nikolay’s poem.

I’m a boy in ballet
I do it every day
I feel free
I land on my knee
I have fun
I’m a boy in ballet
