good spring day on the number one___

3 train, 96th Street to Fulton Street Station, April 14th, 2014
My daughter lost her finger-knitting and wool. I was holding a blow-up matzo ball, and telling her we could either go back, or begin again. Kathryn is a writer /actor and mother of two young adult sons.

good spring day
on the number
   one train
standing holding
onto the pole
   hearing a
beautiful mother
   try to comfort
her daughter who
   has lost an object
the daughter is
not convinced but
will remember
   in her core
a mother who
listened, who was
there on a moving
train, holding a
round, real
   matzo ball,
and offering
true, patient
   solace —
