when despair conquers--

3 train High Street station to 96th Street, February 19th, 2014
He seemed in a hurry. He was pacing across the three elevator doors, trying to figure out which one might come first. He hunkered down on the train and wrote a poem that packs a punch.

When despair conquers
The heart is a caged dove
The key to free it
Is the embrace of love
But let deception
Tear that embrace asunder
Then the doves to come
Fill with painful wonder
Give love to others
Be careful who you chose
If love is misplaced
You’ve everything to lose.
