It’s not easy to ask someone with headphones and sunglasses on, but it’s always worth it. There were many disappointments in 2016, but as a result I find this happening: subway riders are trying harder, wishing holiday greetings, offering up seats and thank you’s, knowing that for a few years we are in a precarious shared boat.

Absorbed in our own worlds
we never really stop to see
The various faces

Faces traveling from different
Places going to different
places

what if we stopped to dwell
on what we have in common
with these different faces

would this unite us?

The same way that tons of
metal underground unites us
as travelers in grouped worlds
